The container of Jacksoy soymilk sealed and shipped to Japan in a joyful ceremony

Release date:2020-01-17
In conjunction with government’s Big Granary Project, which aims to enhance the safety of domestic grains and build positive images for the crops, Central Taiwan Agricultural Cooperative and Cheng Kang Food Co. Ltd. have collaborated to utilize domestically grown, non-GMO soybean to produce TAP certified “Jacksoy Rare Soybean Drink” and “Jacksoy Black Soybean Drink”. Those two products manage to access the Japanese market and are set to land on the shelf of the Japanese coffee supplier Kaldi Coffee Farm. In today’s (Jan. 17) “Press Conference on the Shipment Ceremony for Taiwanese Soymilk Exported to Japan” held by Cheng Kang Food Co. Ltd., the AFA Director-General Dr. Jong-I Hu, the General Manager of Cheng Kang Food Min-Chang Chang, and the President of Central Taiwan Agricultural Cooperative Yu-An Ma join hands to witness the shipment leaving for Japan. Today’s ceremonial event unfolds a new chapter in Taiwan’s agricultural export history and brings the great taste of Taiwanese soymilk to Japanese consumers.

Contractually grown TAP soybean from Central Taiwan Agricultural Cooperative well received for its quality

The AFA indicates that Central Taiwan Agricultural Cooperative contracts with over 300 individual farmers to produce TAP soybean, with a cultivated area of over 100 hectares. Through grade-based purchasing, cultivation optimization, and marketing strategies, the cooperative delivers quality Taiwanese soybean that has high protein content and bold aroma. President Ma expresses that the cooperative works hand-in-hand with the government’s policy to produce a diverse line of soybean products, including processed foods like soymilk, white dried tofu that is TAP certified, tofu, and tofu pudding. This project to work with Cheng Kang Food to produce Rare Soybean Drink and Black Soybean Drink can earn Taiwan a greater international presence. General Manager Chang concurs by saying that although domestic soybean is more costly to produce, it commands higher quality, finer texture and tastes entirely different from imports.

Continuous efforts on Big Granary Project have drawn enthusiastic response from consumers of all origins

The AFA points out that the government’s work for years on Big Granary Project has seen some decent results, as Taiwan now has over 3000 hectares of soybean cultivation. The exportation of soymilk to Japan not only deepens the agricultural trade relationship between Taiwan and Japan but also enables premium Taiwanese agri-products to have greater exposure on the Japanese market, in turn increasing domestic farmers’ income.
Jacksoy Rare Soybean Drink and Jacksoy Black Soybean Drink will soon be available at shops of Kaldi Coffee Farm throughout Japan. It is hoped that all these efforts can facilitate the development of Taiwan’s grain industry and allow more customers a chance to enjoy Taiwanese grains and grain products as well as their wholesomeness.
