Taiwanese flowers meet modern art
Release date:2020-07-03
Perfect combination of Taiwanese flowers and modern art
The AFA highlights that this exhibition features two rising stars in floral design who have won reputable international awards, Kelvin Li and Wenmin Ku. They put together color-rich cut flowers and orchids originated in Taiwan and other recyclable materials, turning them into installation floral art that embodies contemporary aesthetics. On the other hand, floral master Alfie Lin from CN Flower made perfect use of purple Vanda orchid to endow the space with a romantic vibe. Seeing his work, one would have no doubt why Taiwan has been called the Orchid Kingdom. Taipei Financial Center Corporation also invites world-renowned sculptor Kang Muxiang to create a sculpture with steel cables disused by Taipei 101. Its curved shape and warmhearted touch justly complement the floral art to compose a beautiful melody of flowers and art.
Glorious Taiwanese flowers that tell a story of Taiwan
The AFA explains that impacted by the spread of COVID-19, quality domestic flowers intended for export saw a drop in demand, and fewer floral design events were taking place, which limited citizens’ reach to floral art. In response, the AFA rolled out a series of promotional events to drive up demand for and consumption of domestic flowers. That initiative not only aims to help flower producers but also identifies flowers as a remedy for people in difficult times. This creative floral exhibition at Taipei 101 features a range of floral artworks and installations to provide a grand artistic treat to citizens who are overwhelmed by their daily routine and a stage for rising floral designers to showcase their talents. On site, you will get the chance to see diverse and rich flower varieties, floral craftsmanship, and perseverance that are unique to Taiwan.
