“Taiwan Fried Rice King” storms the consumer market via diverse marketing channels

Release date:2021-04-06
Fried rice lovers are here for treats! To highlight fried rice’s place as a national gourmet and raise domestic rice consumption, Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA) connects seven awarded restaurants in the second “Taiwan Fried Rice King” contest with a major delivery platform to provide fried rice delivery. Meanwhile, the champions of Classic Division and Fashion Division are mass-produced into pre-cooked meals for channels like convenience stores and wholesale chains, so that nationwide consumers can easily purchase and taste champion fried rice with all its authentic flavors.

Strongest fried rice combo ever—A-class flavors that you will be torn choosing!

The AFA says that the last year’s (2020) champion fried rice entered mass production to become the first-ever TAP (Traceable Agricultural Product)-certified frozen fried rice product. The product was an instant hit as soon as it hit the market, exceeding 120,000 units sold.

The rise in home dining due to self-quarantine presents another opportunity for convenient, ready-to-eat food products. To expand on the previous success, the second year’s Fried Rice King is made into more variances; aside from frozen fried rice, refrigerated pre-cooked meals targeting convenience stores have also been developed, exploiting the diverse potential of champion fried rice. Among them, the Classic Division winner—Cooking Mama Papa from Tainan collaborates with the renowned food processor “King’s Cook” to mass-produce their “Roast Pork Fried Rice” as prepared frozen food. The frozen fried rice will be rolling out at convenience stores, Carrefour, RT-Mart, and A-Mart from April 7. Assorted with pork roasted in the traditional Hong Kong-style, the fried rice is treated with instant freezing technology to keep the rice springy and fresh and the pork savory and juicy. Have a mouthful of it, and you will see why it’s crowned the champion. As for the winner of the Fashion Division, Green Door Farm co-brands with 7-ELEVEN to market their “Sambal Chicken Fried Rice” as refrigerated meals. Stir-frying with homemade sambal paste adds an exotic flavor to the domestic rice. Try it and let this wonderful taste of fresh sweetness and spicy sourness that resembles shrimp paste will linger in your mouth.

Both champion fried rice offerings have obtained TAP certification. Made with traceable rice of the domestically-bred Taiken 9 variety, the champion fried rice undergoes a standardized and rigid manufacturing process to ensure that every bite of this national gourmet is safe and tasty. The fried rice can be ready with just simple microwave heating, steaming, or stir-frying, making it a perfect fit for students, office goers, or working moms on a tight schedule. It also provides an alternative dining option for people during the pandemic.

Special launch offer—Discounts on champion fried rice that no fried rice lover should miss!!

The AFA says that “Roast Pork Fried Rice” will hit the market in three phases from April 4 to May 7 on channels including 7-ELEVEN, Carrefour, RT-Mart, and A-Mart. “Sambal Chicken Fried Rice”, on the other hand, is exclusive to 7-ELEVEN and will be available from April 7. The price ranges from NTD75 to 85. In support of the government initiative, 7-ELEVEN set the launch price of “Roast Pork Fried Rice” at NTD59 (down from NTD75, limited to the first 50,000 units) and “Sambal Chicken Fried Rice” at NTD70 (down from NTD85, limited to the first 20,000 units), meaning that you can enjoy flavorful TAP-certified fried rice with just under NTD70—an opportunity that no food lover should miss. Since the second “Taiwan Fried Rice King” has many honorable mentions with unique flavors and diverse offerings, the AFA reaches out to Uber Eats to provide delivery services for the seven of those restaurants. Consumers can have awarded fried rice and their exceptional taste delivered to their doorstep with just a swipe on their phone. All are welcome to check out the above channels and platforms and get their hands on the finest domestic fried rice, eating locally and supporting domestic rice products with concrete actions.
