COA collaborates with CPBL to promote Taiwanese bananas
As we enter the prime banana season, to promote domestic bananas, the COA launches a special collaboration with the CPBL to encourage banana consumption through the wide fanbase of professional baseball. For the event day, the COA prepared 10,000 bananas. Honorable guests including COA Minister Chi-Chung Chen, CPBL Commissioner Chi-Chang Tsai, and AFA Director-General Dr. Chong-I Hu join CTBC Brothers Mascot Sean and the cheerleading squad Passion Sisters to deliver bananas to fans. Two competing teams of the game CTBC Brothers and WeiChuan Dragons each receive additional 10 boxes of bananas for their players and fans to snack on during the game. Minister Chen also hosts an award quiz game at the end of the 5th inning. Fans who get the correct answer would receive processed banana products. It’s not only great fun for the fans but also help introduce processed banana products. With this diverse approach to fruit marketing, we expect to increase the sales of agricultural products and the farmer’s income.
Domestic bananas available at nationwide vendors for easy and convenient purchase
The COA explains that domestic bananas possess decent quality and are handy to store and consume. They are not only rich in carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, but the dietary fibers also help with bowel movement. Other benefits include balancing our electrolytes with potassium. Whether you are making a fruit juice or shave ice, adding bananas will give you the flavorful thickness and complete your light meal. At the stadium, a “Banana Section” is held to allow attending fans to purchase fresh domestic bananas and their processed products.
Finally, the COA indicates that it has worked with reputable distributors including PX Mart, Carrefour, Homemaker Union, Costco, and 7-Eleven to roll out promotion events or sampling stands. This collaboration between agriculture and professional sports to reach baseball fans is one of the ways implemented to encourage fruit consumption. The goal is to provide consumers with more food choices and enable them to support domestic fruits with actions while enjoying the freshest and most genuine local flavor.
