100% Taiwan Soymilk Hits the Market with its Local

In order to revitalize set-aside lands and regulate paddy plantation, Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA) has been encouraging farmers to engage in coarse grain production. This year the initiative will pick up steam with the launch of a new product. Through advising New Taipei City Farmers’ Association in selecting locally grown, non-genetically modified soybean and black bean, alongside cooperating with I-Mei Foods Company, the tetra-packed, shelf-stable 100% Taiwan soymilk was developed. Every soybean used is guaranteed to be produced on Taiwan soil, possessing full traceability. This refreshing new product hits the shelf on December 21st in four flavors. With Consumer Demand Come Production and Revenue for Farmers.

The AFA highlights that with 2.3 million tons of soybean imported each year, Taiwan in contrast only produces 2,700 tons of soybean on 1,652 hectares. The low self-sufficiency rate in this segment is just a reflection of the country’s general reliance on imports for soybean materials. To enable citizens to have the choice of locally produced & origin traceable soymilk products, this year the AFA advised New Taipei City Farmers’ Association in selecting the local, non-genetically modified soybeans and black beans as well as cooperated with I-Mei Foods Company to develop this new brand of fully domestic soymilk containing no additives and preservatives. The production process is comprehensively traceable to ensure that all claims about the local origin, freshness, and healthfulness are well backed. Also, in response to the health concerns from modern consumers, both the black bean and soybean milk are offered with reduced sugar and no sugar. Finally, to introduce this product to a wider range of consumers, a series of insightful videos on domestic soybean productions have been filmed, and broadcast of these materials could hopefully spark a new trend of choosing domestic agricultural products, and, more importantly, with consumption end leading the charge, a greater number of farmers would gain in revenue and see the potential in this area.

As an essential part of breakfast for a great many people, soymilk matches regular milk in almost every ingredient, from protein, fat, crude fiber, ash, calcium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, potassium, to various vitamins. In comparison to cereal, soymilk contains two to three times protein, which makes it an ideal protein source for vegetarians. The AFA illustrates that tetra pack used for this soymilk is not only protective but also an environmentally friendly solution since its aseptic technology allows the content to be preserved at room temperature for up to 9 months without preservatives. The light-proof package helps the soymilk retain all its ingredients over time. Consumers may drink it chilled or hot to their liking with a simple preparation step, and the package itself is ideally sized for on the go enjoyment.
